Da big Buddha

The Saturday of Chuseok (yes, still Chuseok), we went to Cheonan and climbed ALL these steps to the Buddhist temple and the big Buddha! It was beautiful and reminded me of all the things I love about fall and the current weather.

HAD to stop and document that leaves were actually falling!!!

Looking back on where we'd been and how far we'd come... (you could get philosophical with that).

View from the top. 'Ello, Buddhist temple.

I spy one big Buddha.

And he's green.

These beautiful lanterns were up for the holiday. What colors!

Yo.

I liked the doors on every single one of the buildings there, they were so so cool.

And then the Buddha pinched the sun.

But really, look at those doors.

People pay for these tiles, write prayers on them, then they are placed on or under the roof of the temples. Some were in Korean, some Chinese, some Spanish, and a few in English!

And bowls of water lilies were abundant.

And so begins the saga of the fresh spring water. There were ladles to drink the water from (I was sanitary and tried to pour it in my mouth). It didn't go well, see for yourself.

Had to.

Such a great day! Between climbing the stairs, seeing leaves fall, the big green Buddha, the spring water, eating at an Indian restaurant, and going thrift shopping, I was one happy camper.
